I have spent alot of time specifying paint systems for the inside of very large fuel tanks and unless the inside of these million litre tanks are waterblasted then sandblasted and then coated with specialist tank epoxies they will flake off. Osmosis drags the liquid through the metal surface resulting in peeling paint. Which is why I have resisted painting the inside of my tank.
