gas pedal linkage

Hello, everyone.  It took effort and heat, but I managed to remove the pin
that allows the linkage rod to disassemble to remove it from the body.
Unfortunately, the long end of the rod pulls apart about an inch from the rest
(toward the passenger side), then won't budge further.

I'm stuck as it is.

Any ideas?
