with DGVs; why do you say the Strombergs are better.

DGV's are fine carbs. If they are tuned right. Getting the right jets and
emulsion tubes can be tricky. The other problem with them is the "toilet
trap" manifolds. They tend to collect condensed fuel when the engine is
warming up. the stock carb setup has no such condensate traps in the
intake.
All too often guys have yanked the Strombergs (after screwing with them and
getting them allout of wack) and dumping them for Webers only to find they
get lousy gas milage and pooorer performance than they would have with the
Strombergs.
The other thing is if you take a stock TR6 to a "Murican mechanic" he will
look at the Strombergs and say "Wha' the hail is that?!!" But if that T6
has DGV's he'll say "Ain't that cute! It's got two Half carb-rators."
But if your carbs are tuned fine and you have no problems with cold running
(you live in Phoenix, after all) you may wish to leave them be. But you
should keep the Strombergs anyway, you may find the car will be easier to
sell someday with the original carbs.
Just my opinion
Dave (Stromberg lover)
