Greetings, All,
I recently had the good fortune to come across a few, old, interesting car
magazines at a nearby garage sale.
Among them were a handful of late 50s vintage 'Sports Car Illustrated' magazines
which I believe later became 'Car and Driver'.
Fun too look at as you can imagine. This was indeed the golden age of
sportscars.
The magazines are full of ads for things like Judson Superchargers, Halda
Tripmaster rally computers and Heuer dash mounted stop watches at prices that
would make you hurl. However, these items were NOT cheap by the dollar of the
day, and if you convert the asking prices for them on eBay to 50s dollars they
may even be cheaper.
Anyway, for you TR3-types, I've scanned a few pages for you that I hope you
enjoy.
Here is a TR3 tuning article from the July 1959 issue:
http://www.mrl.ucsb.edu/barteet/July-1959-SCI-TR3.pdf
It's about 3.8MB
And here is a spy-photo of a frisky Fred Thomas with his newly acquired TR-3:
http://www.mrl.ucsb.edu/barteet/July-1957-SCI-TR3-ad.pdf
It's about 640K
Both are in Adobe Acrobat format.
