The tech assistant said he had personally experienced an incoorect
reading from a liquid filled guage.  He recommended using a non-liquid
filled type because they are vented.  The liquid filled are not vented
and can give incorrect reading when hot.

I don't know what gauge they are talking about but here's a glycerine
filled gauge rated for -4 to 140 deg F (-20 to 60 deg C)  Model 113-13.
