Just to give you folks a heads up on a potential weak area on the TR6 frames.
Might be worth while to look at this on the TR4 also. I have recently looked
at three TR6's with the welds broken that attach the steering rack to the
frame. If you are standing at the front of the car looking down into the
engine
compartment (hood removed) there is a portion of the frame on each side were
the front arm of the lower a-arm attaches. This is a boxed area with a flat on
the top that the steering rack bracket attaches to. If you stick a LARGE
screwdriver or rod in from the front and press down slightly thereby lifting
the
steering mount rack bracket in the rear you can see the broken weld. The ones
I
have recently looked at were broken on both the drivers and passenger sides.
It's kind of tough to see until you push down a little bit but these were
definitely broke loose. Might be something you want to look at if you are
doing
some work on your TR.
