Didn't find anything in the Car & Driver TR4 road test (April 1962), 
plenty on acceleration but maybe they didn't actually test stopping in 
the 60's? The Road & Track cover story from October 1961 is just about 
features, soft stuff, no numbers. If you find some historical numbers be 
sure to compare them to contemporary cars and trucks for perspective.

The only newer vehicle I've driven regularly to compare in the over four 
years I've had my TR4 is the old Range Rover Classic I had for a year or 
so. It did stop Really Fast ... with big disc brakes all around, ABS and 
fat tires. My TR4 has supermodel skinny 165R15 tires, might be the real 
difference. But after 4 years of daily driving, I've been able to stop 
the TR4 whenever I needed to. Well, not counting one Ford Explorer, but 
I didn't see it soon enough, can't blame the brakes. Her fender stopped 
the car quickly enough. D'oh.
