Fuel tank gunk

"Fuel flow" from my last post was a misnomer - the stuff bubbling out was some
kind of inert brown fluid that may once have been gas, and the flow stopped
when the gravity was done with what was in the lines. Pulled the fuel line off
a section at a time back to the pump ( an electric one mounted at the tank) and
found the tank, lines, inlet and screen on the pump completely plugged with
stuff resembling tar. A day of cleaning/draining/line replacing later, I have
flow again.

Short of removing the tank for refurb, is there a fuel additive or tank
treatment that will disolve whatever gummy stuff is left in the bottom of the
tank?

TIA
