equipment?

Well, yeah, tap is one of those words that has a lot of meanings. But the
number one definition in the Webster's New World College Dictionary (for
the noun form of Tap) is: a device for starting and stopping the flow of
liquid in a pipe or barrel, etc.; faucet.
A device for cutting threads is way down at #6.
Using the word "tap" is a bit ambiguous as a result of the multiple
meanings. The term "fuel shut off valve" leaves little to be misconstrued.
