TR3A Driveline

I've seen a couple of posts over the past months to the effect that drivelines
are the same for OD and non-OD trannys (I hope I'm remembering correctly,
anway....).

But the question is how much clearance travel should the driveline have
remaining when it's hooked up?  I'm looking at maybe an inch, inch-and-a-half.
I can't imagine that the springs will bounce to exceed that, would they?
