Make sure you have the Ford kit, the GM kit is of a different size.

2 (threaded) connecting to the column and 2 connecting to the gear
input. I can't get the 2 out that go to the gear input. It appears
these are a pressure fit as neither end has a flat spots for a wrench.

Yep, two of the studs are riveted on. Use a grinder to remove the mushroomed
end and tap them out. On assembly, make sure the new studs are facing the
proper direction. The studs are between the slots on the opposite side of the
shaft to provide steering even if the rubber dice completely fails.
