In the last two days, I've aquired two "new" Triumphs, in addition to my
current '70 GT6+. I found a '69 GT6+ parts vehicle at random in the
local area (Maryland), and was given a '68 Spitfire which was garage
parked in the late '70s after the engine blew. Unfortunatly, the owner
pulled the engine on the Spit, threw it away, and left the rest in their
barn for the last ~25 years. The Spitfire is in such wonderful condition,
that I'm going to try and complete it before my GT6, but I'll need an
engine for it. I'd really like a fresh engine, and as the odds of finding
a
fresh 1300 motor second hand are low, I am leaning towards buying a
core in the UK, and having Jigsaw rebuild it, then shipping it over to the
US. Has anyone gone this route before, and if so, what do they think of
the quality of the work? Similarly, for a number of reasons, I'm looking
for a fresh body tub for my GT6+, and was hoping that maybe someone
on the lists had a tub left over from a Spit 6 conversion. My current tub
has had fender flares installed in the '70s, in doing so, the front louvres
were shortened, all four fenders were cut up, and the front of the body
tub was changed. To top this off, the last owner shaved the rear turn
signals. I personally dislike this look, but the cost of changing it back,
plus other peoples interest in the flares, has left me wanting to pass
the body+hood on to someone who will enjoy that style. Can anyone
out there help me?
   Thanks,
   --Zach
