Intersting. I had a '98 Subaru Legacy that needed a new short block at 63k
miles. Warrenty expired at 60k. Even pointing out that the problem
undoubtably atarted before the warrenty was expired, but just not found didn't
make them pay. They did pony up 75% of the cost, but that still left me with
over a thousand dollar bill. The area service rep then explained to me how
Subaru of America probably would have paid 100% if I had bought the car new.
He said nothing when I asked him why I would ever buy another Subaru. Thank
god I had gotten the extended warrenty that I thought I would never use. And
then there's the long and twisted tale of the '82 Buick Skylark I used to drive
that coined the saying "If it's GM it must be crap!" Now after reading about
these problems, I am beginning to think ALL cars are crap and the manufacturers
are just glad we have no other place to go. The ironic thing is the most
reliable car I have ever owned has been my 1980 TR8. Maybe that's ju
st 'cause I don't drive it everyday.
-Wayne, who's next car will probably be some crappy Toyota Pick up-they never
seem to die, even when you want them to.
