Sounds like you fell victim to exactly the effect I was talking about ...
putting a tube in lowers the load-carrying capacity of the tire, due to the
increased heat generated.  Towing a caravan puts a lot of extra load on the
tire (it's not unusual to overload them that way anyway) ...
