Don, this is one of those times when a BFH really is the right tool for the
job.  The impact of the hammer blows is what does the trick.

The other thing to remember is that the clips, cups and cross are all junk
at this point; it doesn't matter if you break them.  A sharp well-placed
chisel and an enthusiastic blow from at least a 3 pound (5 is better if you
can control it) BFH will do wonders.
