Advantages are changing to a smaller "standard" fan belt, and reducing or
eliminating the harmonic vibration that happens at higher RPM's. There's
more technical detail in the archives if you need it.
For my use I also want to switch to a larger radiator and run puller
electric fans since I live in Arizona.
British Frame and Engine sells a kit that includes the balancer and water
pump pulley. It's a nice setup, and probably the best way to go for this
conversion.
I got rid of the stock generator years ago, but now since I've moved to AZ I
want to try to set-up the car so I can run it on days when it hits 110
degrees. There's no way to do this with the stock cooling system so you
won't see me winning any originality contests. I just want to be able to
drive my car....
