Kurtis,
The answer is "YES", there are other options. However, none are in my
opinion very good or reliable. You have to isolate the radio (or
stereo) completely from the car's chassis. Once you have done that
successfully, you can run your wires directly to the battery positive
and negative as required and run the speaker wires to the speakers
(again ensuring that there is no grounding of the speaker coil to the
chassis.

Of course, you will not have the radio connected to the ignition switch
so you will have to be careful not to leave it on or you will run down
the battery.

In short, switch to negative ground and it will then be a much cleaner
installation.

Joe Curry

Subject: Positive Ground Car Stereo

Greetings all...

I'm quite the dunce when it comes to anything electrical, so this may be
a
stupid question. Are there any options for hooking up a modern car
stereo
in my (currently) positive ground TR4 other than changing it to a
negative
ground configuration? I don't suppose there are any car stereo
manufacturers making systems specifically for cars with a positive
ground
electrical system are there?

Thanks,

Kurtis J.
