I would urge some TR6 owner to do just that. I'm reasonably certain that
all of the TR2-6 drive the tach cable at 1/2 crankshaft rpm, which of course
is the same as distributor rpm. The tach heads are all marked "2:1",
because they read twice the cable rpm.
Of course, my Stag has an electric tach, that would look right at home in a
later TR6 dash, and I believe can be recalibrated to read correctly for a
6-banger ... Didn't the 2000/2.5 also have 4.5" electric tachs ? They
wouldn't even need to be recalibrated ...
