So I went to the garage last night to get the TR6 out. Had not done so
yet this year. New job, new girl, etc, been busy. But in planning, had
put the charger on the battery a few days ago.
Take a look at all the precious bodily fluids, top up the oil, a splash
of gas to the carbs, turn the key and vroom! off she goes. A magnificent
sound. Let her idle for a few minutes to warm up. And then the smell
hits. A much hated smell. That of hot anti-freeze. After 27 years, the
freeze plug in the back of the block (at the top, just under the head)
had corroded and leaks under pressure. Can't be one of the ones in the
*side* of the block...Oh no. It has to be the one that requires taking
the engine out of the car...Feh.
Sigh. I guess that spare engine will be going in sooner rather than
later. I meant to do it last winter anyway.
Ah well.
