The gasket kit comes with gaskets in about 5 different thickness'. I 
doubt you could get gasket material in as many thickness, or that you'd 
be able to cut them correctly so that they'd line up. I keep a bunch of 
those gaskets around for my Stag, which uses the same pump.

And don't use sealer at all. It will affect the thickness of the gaskets.
