That shouldn't be the case in cars. You would have a series resistor from the
supply to the LED, since it runs on about 2.2 volts. If the voltage dropped a
bit, the LED current would drop a bit, but not enough to be noticeable.
Furthermore, the LEDs draw so much less current that the voltage drop across a
poor connection will be less.

Brighter but much more sensitive to voltage drops in old wiring or bad
earths. Incandescent just get a bit dimmer if the voltage is low - LEDs
don't work at all.
