I modified an extra kick/scuff plate for the door which worked great for a 
number of years.  It did retain/transmit a little more heat than just the 
carpet though.

I don't believe there is an actual aftermarket item.

Hi  Listers...
        I  seem  to remember that I had a fitted  aluminum scuff 
plate on  the  transmission  next to the accelerator.   Of  course 
that was  back  in 1957... anyone  know  if  they  are  still 
available anywhere???
