In the discussion of the "hockey puck" sized buffer between the hood and the
thermostat housing, no one has mentioned whether it was seen on a car with the
crank option. Possibly when lining up the engine to the crank hole the engine
sat too high causing the thermostat housing to be too close to the bottom of
the hood. Probably that is why the engineers went to a shorter motor mount for
the 4A for that buffer has not been seen on a 4A only the 4s but not all of
them. Although that disc is not mentioned in the current edition of the TRA
guide for the 4 & 4A, thanks to the members of this list, next edition will
state "make no deduction for presence or absence of an approximate 2 1/2"
diameter fiber buffer that was glued to the underside of the hood to eliminate
contact between the hood and thermostat housing. There is no deduction for the
authors feel that it was not a universal fitment" How about your TR4 Darrell
Floyd? Can we have your feedback on this?
