TR4A clutch slave cylinder question

Should the clutch slave cylinder on my 66 TR4A have the external return 
spring?  It didn't when I got it (but it was missing a lot of stuff).  
The Spare Parts Catalog for the 4A doesn't show it, but the shop manual 
doesn't call out any difference between the 4 and 4A.
