Dave, I wanted a cigarette lighter "outlet" for my cell phone. I mounted
it under the dash on one of the heater mounting rails, set far back. You
really can't see it unless you duck your head, and it's a lot more
convenient than having the glove box open to plug something in.

It's connected through a fuse directly to the ignition switch. There
aren't many other places to put it.
