I am curious how cam followers are tested for hardness without ruining
them. The only tester I have experience with was a Rockell tester in the
60's, and it used a hardened ball to make a depression in the test piece.
How else is the test done?
Another suggestion for those who are considering stabilizer bar bushings
is to order a length of plastic wear strip of 3/4 X 1" from Pegasus Racing,
and fabricate a bushing. I used two pieces, laid together on the 1" width,
and drilled a 5/8" hole through following the seam between the matching
faces. Each half now goes on each side of the bar. I then drilled mounting
holes to match the holes where the original brackets had gone. The assembly
was backed up with a matching 1/8" plate 1" wide, and fastened with bolts
and nylock nuts. The attachment to the car can be done without removing the
radiator, but can elicit crabbiness from those so inclined!
