>Just a quick note, I am going to be shaving my 7.75CR Cylinder head down
to around 9:1. I was all set with this Idea, until I wondered if it would
really make a difference, as my car has Stromberg Carbs. Though I am not
really looking for HP gain, I just want to feel a little more power then I
did before.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say you are talking about a late model
TR6. I did the same thing and it sure helped with low speed tactability.
The higher compression ratio will increase Torque across the RPM range. It
will likely increase your horsepower number but then the HP rating is
simply a peak measurement taken at the optimum speed for horsepower numbers
and in the case of the late model TR6 that speed is 4900 RPM. I don't know
how much time you spend at 4900 RPM but I doubt my car has ever seen 4900
RPM.
Besides, the Strombergs are not the limiting factor in engine performance.
In your case the compression ratio is the biggest culprit.
Cheers
