i've been to zs hell and back and thought the info would be valuable to any
of you guys with zs carbs with fasd choke. the f(ully) a(utomatic)
s(tarting) d(evice) i.e. choke on certain zs carbs seem to have common
failure. there is a supposed mechanical choke kit you can buy that will
'convert' your carb. i bought it. i have regretfully learned that in
reality it is not a mechanical choke. what it really is, is a replacement
for the wax bulb (one of many parts) inside the fasd assembly. the fasd has
many parts in it. it is, now i know, a small carburetor with many items.
worse still, in all my patience and fiddling with the 'mechanical choke'
conversion kit, i could not get it to work smoothly. i worked with it, with
my friend axel (ex jaguar mechanic) a total of about 8 hours. the
'mechanical choke' conversion kit does come with instructions. it appeared
that it would work. if someone has gotten it to work i would love to hear
from them. now, please, i am not calling anyone names, i am not saying
anyone is a crook, or anything else like that. i am just trying to share
'educational experience' with you all. isn't that what the list is all
about ? saving someone else allot of time. does anyone have a cost
effective alternative to the fasd (which after two used one still doesn't
work) ? ya ya, cost effective and triumph don't go together, i know i know
!
