I am kidding, but just a little. My personal oil
changing experience leads me to believe that all this
frequent oil changing is just a scam and not by the
oil companies. Just two more points of data. I had a
1983 Mazda 626 for 10 years. I changed the oil twice.
It still ran strong before I sold it at 200,000
miles. I had a 1980 BMW 320i for 21 years. The oil
got changed maybe 5 times. It never had a problem and
ran great.

According to those quick change places, you should
change your oil every 3000 miles. Right. According
to the manufactuers, it should be changed every 7500
miles. I read a Mobil oil report that said engine oil
is good for 15000 - 30000 miles. Who's right?

How many engine rebuilds have you people who change
your oil every 3000 miles had to do? I'm not saying
that frequent oil changes are bad, other than for the
environment, just that they are a waste of money.
