Hi Paul
Haven't tried Gabriel, but I have a pair of Monroe on the back of my 2000
workhorse for towing etc they were second hand when I got them and they have
been installed for four years now, no apparent loss of damping, and they
will lift the back end with only a low air pressure, the most I have ever
needed with the heaviest towball load (car on trailer with the engine to the
front) was about thirty PSI.
Hope this info helps you with your choice.

Graham.
