My gut reaction is NO. A: I'd hate to flat-tow something like a TR2 that great
a distance; and B: adding the weight of a trailer is going to make things even
worse. There's a decent chance that, either way, you might find yourself
"beside the road in eastern Nevada, with no other [anything] in sight"; I'd
almost rather deal with the roadside repair of a TR2 than I would with the same
on a CRV.

I can't answer either of these. I've yet to attend a TRF Summer Party but
probably will go in 2003 since the VTR Convention will be held in conjunction
with same. But then I'm from upstate New York.
>4. How are you getting there?
Chances are my Herald 1200 sedan will get me there. It got me from NY to MN and
back last year, so.... :-)
>5. Would you consider caravaning? In an LBC? With a trailer?
Yes. I consider caravaning with others greatly desireable, maybe even
mandatory, and I've done it both driving a Triumph and towing same. I've even
heard of situations where "trailer queens" (kidding, folks) come off the
trailer and get driven in the unfortunate event of a major breakdown of a car
being driven.

No laughter from me, David. These are all perfectly fair questions. But having
done towing over the years with a variety of vehicles -- ranging from "quite
adequate, thank you" to "don't know how the he** I did it, and I'll never do it
again" -- you want to do any towing over (say) 5-10 miles to be done with a
vehicle that is designed for the load. Your tow vehicle really needs the
heavy-duty charging and cooling system for the extra strain, as well as
heavy-duty brakes and drivetrain components. I rather doubt a CRV is up to that
kind of strain, especially over such a great distance. Even if you make it
there and back, chances are you won't like the price of repairs you'll make on
the CRV once you get back. :-(
On the other hand, you'd be a hero to all if you drove a TR2 cross-country and
back! (Note lack of smiley; I'm serious!)
