The electric pump is a better 'pusher' than 'sucker'. The stock diaphragm
type is a better 'sucker' so is mounted nearer the carbs than the tank. The
usual recomendation would be to put the electric as close to the fuel tank as
possible. It is possible that you may have decreased the fuel supply by your
move, especially if that is the oly change you made and the sputtering
occured immediately after that change.. You could experiment with moving it
around a bit, using temporary (but safe) connections. Might be faster and
cheaper than correcting a bunch of stuff that is OK anyway.
