Casper, AnnaBelle (wife) and I enjoyed a great day at the Ironstone
Winery Concours 'd Elegance yesterday. Over 400 cars with an
outstanding diversity. They celebrated 100 years of Cadillacs, but
there were Duesenbergs, Pierce Arrows (There was a Pierce Arrow
Silver Arrow that I had just seen on a History channel special about
Million Dollar Cars) and many other I had never heard of well worth
the entry just to see all these wonderful cars.
There were many, many classes with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in all
classes (Take Note Palo Alto) Unfortunately there only 5 Triumphs so
we ended up in the European Sports and Grand Touring class, not so
bad the competition was ONLY cars like a 1956 300SL Gull Wing
(original owner),a beautiful silver Aston Martin DB5 (ala James Bond)
a pair of 356 Porsche speedsters...ah well at least we represented
the "common" folk.
There was a gaggle, and therefore a class, for MGs and another for
Austin-Healys, I think we should band together and get enough
Triumphs for a class next year. Ironstone is located in Murphys,
California and the setting is beautiful, very nice, very Organized
(take note Palo Alto) event. Your entry included: Coffee and
doughnuts in the morning, a Buffet Lunch (real food) and a great
Basket of "goodies". The event is to raise money for the local 4-H
groups and the 4-H was there showing off their animals, even a
demonstration of training guide dogs from puppies (must be hard to
give up that animal when the time comes)...
Anyway we had a great time with fellow UBSCC'rs even if it did get
unseasonably warm.
