Larry, does the brown wire still go to ground if you disconnect all the
other wires from the dip switch ? If so, then I believe the switch is
defective (or possibly not the right switch for your application).
My Haynes has 3 different wiring diagrams for GT6, as usual none of them
seem to quite match your car. The Mk3 diagram shows only 4 wires going to
the main/dip/flash switch; the others show the 5th wire as being a second
blue/white, which joins the other blue/white at an external connector.
