I don't think it will shoot out, maybe a steady drip.  If you remove the 
reservoir
cap and put a piece of Saran wrap over the opening, then replace the cap (all
before opening the line) this may slow down the fluid loss.

I usually cut the corner off a Ziploc baggie and slip that over the end of the
input pipe, securing it with a wire twistie.  You should lose very little fluid
and be able to easily bleed any air introduced.
