Electrics in not one of my better areas, but it sounds like you would
benefit from a new set of plug wires.

Hello List,
My TR6 has a rough idle. At night in a dark garage I notice
that the plugs are arching to the head, externally. Little sparks
dance over the wires, and onto my hands. The car runs good on
the road, just idles lousy.
I've tended to any possible vacuum leaks, and cleaned all
grounds.
Now I am running a Pertronix with 12V stock coil and
ballast bypass wire, timing at about 8 BTDC, NGK5BPES plugs at
.035" gap, new Bosch wires. I burn through caps and rotors pretty
quickly. I switched to the Pertronix because I was burning through
points, too. Dang!
Any ideas sure would be appreciated.
                Rick
