Scott, for years I cleaned mine iwth steel wool and clear coated with
various different products. What I've learned ? Paint type clear coats just
do not hold up well on magnesium. Had to redo them every year! What I did?
Had the wheels bead blasted baked @ 400 F for a couple of hrs (this stuff
outgasses like crazy) and then what else? Powder coated!! with a marine
grade Crystal Clear finish. If you want the outer rim to really shine, buff
it with steel wool prior to the PC.
Not real cheap but worth every dime.

Racing Wheels? It is my understanding that you are supposed
