All indications are that the "vintage" Allison XR-700 that came with the
"3"is dead. So intend to reconvert back to points, and then ponder what may
be a better set up should I decide to go back to electronic.
Question though ... How is the wiring routed between the ignition switch and
the coil for the points set up? I've tried to see in the pictures available,
and in the manuals, but its not so clear, and there is no indication anywhere
I've seen that shows under the dash.
In the Allison set up the lead from the ignition switch goes directly to the
"black box" (mounted on the firewall) and from there to the coil. + and -
leads then are connected from the coil to the box, with a separate wire +
lead grounded to the engine.
Any advice appreciated.
