Importing vehicle from UK

I am contemplating importing a Vitesse, 2000 or Herald to the US from the 
UK assuming I can find one to my liking.  Does anyone have any experience 
with importing a vehicle and what's involved re customs, taxes, emission 
nonsense and such?
