Had my car, a 70 GT6+ torn down to a rolling chaises. All interior pieces
out, windshield frame out, engine and tranny out, all wiring removed with
nothing left on the fire wall.........
Took the car in to a great local shop, verbally went over what I wanted
and said that a rear lower trunk pan was coming in and I wanted it replaced
also. The panel came in and I took it over and they were already working the
car over. I handed it to one of their guys and told them to call when
finished. I couldn't wait to get her back. They called and when I went in they
went around the car telling me what they had done. We got to the back of the
car and the panel looked perfect except when I opened the trunk and looked at
the inside it had all the ripples and creases of the old one. The guy comes
over, hands me my panel and tells me what a nice job they did fixing the back
without having to use the panel. My car is a driver and it really wasn't a
problem but even today(it's been 4 years ago) I open the back lift the floor
and go "man I should of said something then."
If I would do it again...list exactly what you want done and right down to
the decals you don't want painted. It took several weeks to get the over spray
off my springs ( I assumed that if it wasn't yellow to begin with it wouldn't
be returned yellow) but make sure they know in writing what you want done. At
least when it's over you can say see right here #15...... Do not paint tires ;
