Steven,
My guess is that you are safe from a clutch problem - at least as it relates
to this issue. (But when you pull out in front of my unsuspecting brother
and squeal your wire-wheeled tires, I'm sure it's only a matter of time
before your "evil ways' catch up with the clutch!) <g>
I would first suspect exactly what you checked: wheel bearings, shock,
bushings, or any bolt holding it all together. Remember, finger tight isn't
a torque setting recognized by our manufacturer. How are your hub splines?
Lastly, I would also suspect worn or poorly tightened wheel spokes - you did
say you had uneven wear.
Solution: yep, you guessed it, a frame off to give you peace of mind that
it isn't your fuel system, your rear tail-light, or anything else for that
matter.
Just keep all four wheels on the ground when driving near my brother! Geez!
Sincerely,
Eric Conrad
P.S. Instead of that trick 2-wheeled driving on the driver's side, you
might change to the passenger side to wear the tires evenly. <g>
