A couple of nights ago, I tried to open the bonnet on my TR6 and it will
not open. I don't think the cable is broken because the tension on the
cable-pull under the dash is the same as it always has been when I pull it
and it it returns home like its always done. Also, I'm pretty sure I can
hear the catch under the bonnet move when I pull it. But the hood is not
opening. Its like something is jammed. I don't know if this is
related, but I recently replaced one of the cone shaped rubber bonnet
locating pins. I've tried pushing the bonnet this way and that while
someone pulls the release but no results. Any thoughts on this mystery?
By the way, I can't remember where I saw it (club website, 6-Pack
newsletter, or this list?) but someone had some information on a bar with
two 90 degree bends that they had engineered to stick through one of the
firewall grommets to release the bonnet catch if the release cable ever
broke. Anyone know where I can get info on making this tool? I may try
that trick.
ps. please copy me directly as well as the list since I'm on the digest.
Thanks, Greg Hutmacher
