Need to remove the wiper motor and gearbox to improve the paint in the
area. On a TR3 you remove the mounting bolts, open the gearbox cover
and disconnect the circlip on the link to the rack. Doesn't look like
this is quite possible with the 4 as the gearbox is tucked in under the
fascia overhang.
My question -- once I have the mounting bolts undone and the big nut
that holds the gearbox to the rack is loose... will I be able to pull
the rack out aways to get at the gearbox cover and disconnect the link
to the rack?
I have read the Haynes procedure that has you pulling everything out
(rack, wipers, washers, all linkages) by working thru the access panels
behind the dash... but I don't need everything out -- just the motor and
gearbox -- and am hoping for a simpler approach.
As usual... sorry if it is not clear and TIA for any help.
