I also had the same problem. I actually did install the bottom door seal
(MOSS #649-020) along with the clips and some adhesive and the door wouldn't
close. So I removed part of the seal with a razor blade to get the door to
close, and then just ended up removing it all. In all the other TR3's I've
seen, (which hasn't been too many) the bottom seal has not been installed.
All the other seals fit, ie top and side weatherstrips and fuzzies. Even in
the cold here in NY (and I did drive it up until Jan since we had no snow
until then) the compartment stayed relatively draft free. At least the
absence of this particular door seal didn't seem to contribute. Of course,
had to dress rather warm anyhow. And as an aside, if I look at any of the
"vintage"pictures of these TR's (like in "Triumph by name ... nature" all the
people seem to have heavy coats and hats. Rattles do not seem to be
significant from this area, but if there was a solution I'd consider it. Not
a big priority though.
