Richard,
It sounds like the Green with Brown strip wire for the reverse lamps is
connected to the neutral safety switch (a switch on '72 to '75 gearbox
covers that "turns on" in all gears but neutral) on the right side rear of
gearbox top cover rather than to the reverse lamp switch on the left rear of
the gearbox top cover. This assumes your OD conversion used the '72 or
later top cover. ( If you don't have switches on each side of the rear of
the gearbox top cover, ignore all this.)
The wires should be as follows:
Reverse lamp switch (left rear of gearbox top cover)
1 green wire
1 green with brown stripe wire
Neutral safety switch (right rear of gearbox top cover):
1 green wire
1 green with light green stripe wire
Caution --- don't mix these wires up with the OD isolator switches on the
top of the gearbox top cover.

Subject: Backup Lamps ON!!
| OK, put the O/D conversion in my TR6 and now the backup lamps are on in
all
| gears (not neutral). I know we could have a lot of fun here with stuff
like
| "make sure the lamps are aimed properly so as not to irritate other
| drivers," but how about some suggestions? Thanks.
