List,
I'm preparing a used engine to put in my TR250 with
broken rings. The "new" engine came from a 250
with a serial number in the 4000 range (I think).
The DPO had put a head from a late TR6 or GT6
on the engine, but still used the 250 intake manifold
and a lot of gasket sealer. The big question comes
from the engine number CC4XXXEs The letter S is
stamped near the E and is smaller than the rest of
the letters and numbers. I don't know if I have a super
rare factory "Super race" engine or if the DPO got drunk
with a stamp kit. In the past 30 years the S could have
been put there to suggest...
Sporty
Salvage
Sand in crank case
Silver plated (must have worn off)
Any ideas??
