Did anyone catch this recreation of a 1907 (?) rally last night (tuesday) on
Speedvision. About 100 vintage cars left Peking and were about half way to
Paris when the show finished for the nght. The original trip in 1907(?) took
60 days this one took 45 days. It really wasn't a race but so far it has been
amazingly grueling. There were lots of old british cars, several early 20s
open touring cars, a Bentley, a spitfire was mentioned but never seen by me, I
saw the rear of a Vitesse and a TR6. Of course the camera person spent most of
his (her) time with the women and the big bucks cars. I can't imagine how the
Spitfire fared through hundreds of two foot+ deep fjords. This was one tough
trip and is worth a look.
Mike Lunsford, 1970 TR6
