For my fellow Candians,
I've just ordered parts from a US supplier and was wondering if NAFTA
comes into play and if I can avoid some customs duties. Is there duty
on new parts for old cars? What, if anything, can I ask the supplier to
label the package as to avoid duty, ex "antique car parts"?
I've heard of people having their parts delivered to an upstate NY
address (Mail Boxes Etc for example) and driving across the border to
pick them up and 'smuggle' them back across the border, but I'm lazy and
would prefer to have them sent to my door as opposed to trying to find
an address in NY to have them sent to.
But I'd also like to avoid paying the Cdn gov't any more taxes than I
already do.
