Friends,
it seems this subject of dissing the wedges is turning up again
[instead of computer OS bashing?]... As the happy owner of a dhc
'80 TR8 and a '70 Mk3 Spitfire [and with some sidescreen TR-owning
friends] I must say that the cars are so different that the only
thing they have in common is the manufacturers name - and the joy
and pride of their owners.
Why can't we just settle with that?
The different generation cars reflect their respective decades
- and the technology/styling/economics that was predominant BACK
THEN... Remember the most recent of ANY Triumph automobile was
made in '83/'84 and the last of the Triumph sportscars left the
[Rover-!] factory in 1981. The very first of the post WW2 Triumph
sportscars left the [Standard-!] factory in 1946. A time span of
some 30-35+ years, coincidentally soon to be the time span gone
since that very last TR7 left the factory.
Back in the last century..!
I don't have problems with the choice of car made by my sidescreen-
owning friends and [as far as I know! ;-) ] they have no problems
with what I decided to sink my money into. Why should there be?
Now, in the new century, even the Germans have let the Wedgies
into their TR-Register e.V. so why should we keep up this argument
in this forum? We're all living in a new century now. Let's leave
this old grudge behind us all.
Best regards
/Odd
