Hello
I Now have a GM 17 alternator on my TR-8. I have mostly followed your
diagram but with a few changes.
1. I made a spacer/adapter to fit the GM unit and the origional TR-8
bracket.
2. I made a new adjuster but not as long as yours. Small screw-up. It have
used a Gates Belt #7453 that is 45 7/8. This makes the alt just curle around
the hose and have plenty of room for the frame/body. I only made the
adjuster some 1.5inch or so longer than the origional and now only have a
short inch of adjustment left and wish, to be perfect, to have a weee tiny
bit more room on the hose. Like having a belt that is say 46.1/8 or so. I
might make an adjuster that is another inch longer.
3. I used some washers and a nut as spacers on the alt for the bracket and
will most likely make some bit of tube to for this spot.
It works super!! plenty of volts and with everything on the meter stays put.
Nice.
Cheers
John
